Furry Friday – Kaori, Arrow and Yogi

Hi everyone! It’s Furry time! How’s your week been? It’s been good over here at Cotton & Cloud. I have managed to have the freshest tea and scones on Wednesday and it made me really happy.

Love the combination of the birdie fabric and soft polka dottowel.

Today is all about Kaori from Kaori Color and her two kitty cats! Kaori creates super stylish modern baby accessories and handbags. I love the way she combines vibrant colours. When my sister’s baby was born, I got a baby set made with a mushroom fabric. It was so cute and she really loved it.

About Kaori:

Hi! My name is Kaori. I live in New Orleans in Luisiana. I have a busy life with my son and sewing for etsy shop Kaori Color. I love sewing! I have two cats called Arrow (6 years-old: born in March) and Yogi (5 years-old: born in May).

How did you find Arrow and Yogi?

Arrow was born in the countryside in Illinois. A farmer there who we knew was looking for someone who could have the kittens and we decided to take him home. Arrow was the only ginger cat in the litter and I immediately fell in love with him. Yogi was also born in the same state but at a different farm. I thought Arrow would like a company and when I first saw a beautiful and unusual beige kitten, I thought he is the one.

How would you describe Arrow and Yogi’s personality?

Arrow is very friendly and love being with humans. Everyone who meets Arrow falls in love with him because he has such a wonderful fur and it feels lovely to touch him. When he is completely relaxed (sometimes too relaxed) he sleeps with his legs completely floppy and open so people find him really funny.

Yogi is a real scardy cat. He runs away so quickly whenever I hoover or someone visits our home. But he knows who to trust and he is really affectionate (secretly).

Everyone falls in love with Arrow.

What are Arrow and Yogi’s favourite toys?

Arrow loves to chase a long cord. He also plays with a little round ball on a hard floor because it rolls well.
Yogi used to love playing with a ball. He plays with it as if he is playing a soccer. Though he hasn’t done it for a while. He also plays throw and fetch like a dog!

What do Arrow and Yogi eat?
Usually they only eat dry biscuits. I don’t have any preference for a brand. Sometimes I give them tinned food for a treat or on a special day.

What is your favorite website for cat (e.g. shop, arts, toys etc.)?

Sometime ago, I found a blog and the cats of the author looked exactly like Arrow and Yogi. I actually forgot the address of the blog (sorry!) but these cats were always friendly to each other and I remember thinking I wish Arrow and Yogi were like them!

What do you like most about owning a cat?

Unlike human relationship, animals always love you unconditionally. I love them very much and I always try my best to love them back as much or even more.

What is the most annoying thing that Arrow and Yogi do?

They both are not good at using the litter tray. Both of them never really cover after they go to the toilet (may be they don’t want their paws dirty!). They tend to scratch the side of the tray for over 30 seconds to 1 min! Often they also wipe their bottoms on the carpet… not every nice. I always check if there are anything wrong with them but they are absolutely normal and healthy. I think it is their bad habit.

It's so cute that you could eat Arrow up :D hehe!

What are the most memorable moment with Arrow and Yogi?

When we first brought Yogi to our home, Arrow was so jealous of him because he thought we love Yogi more. It was puzzling because we only brought Yogi for Arrow. Arrow kept sitting on the window seal and sulked for many days by looking outside and not playing. So we decided to always prioritize Arrow first for anything. In few weeks, we saw Arrow grooming Yogi! We were so relieved and never regretted bringing Yogi home.

Which part of Arrow and Yogi’s life style do you care most about?

Since my son was born, I always make a special effort to make a nice quiet environment for my cats. I am also very careful not to stress my cats by my son gripping their tails or chasing after them!! Though my son loves the cats and the cats really don’t mind.

What has owning a cat taught you?

Arrow and Yogi are my first pet of my own. I never realized how much I love cats. It’s a huge responsibility to look after your own pets but it is very satisfying to be with them because the love you no matter what. As long as my cats are happy I can survive my busy week!

Thank you Kaori, Arrow and Yogi!

So the next Furry Friday (20/11/09) will be:

Kylie from Fabulously Fierce Pets.

Have a wonderful weekend!

If you want to participate in Feline Friday (any pets welcome!) please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would be delighted to feature you!

Cute kitties! I love the photo of Arrow in the frying pan…so cute!

    • kyoko says:

      Hi Stephanie,
Yeah, that photo totally made me laugh. I mentioned in Dawn’s comment above that there are some cats in Japan which sleep in ceramic hot pots (youtube link is there in my reply). The weirdest place Kumo and Wata were sleeping was in our washing basket…We have a fabric washing basket and I think they thought it was their hammock..
Hope you have a great weekend!

Maybe you want to have two little hamsters over for your ‘Furry Friday’? :) )
These cats are soooo sweet… glad to hear you had a good week. Keep it up ;)

    • kyoko says:

      Hi Mia,
I would LOVE two little hamsters on my Furry Friday!
Yeah, a good scone and a cup of tea really does the trick. As I love scones, I replace the clotted cream with creme fraiche (I think it is healthier and I quite like the lightness of it).
Hope you have a great weekend (are you having this strong wind and rain over there? – it’s so bad over here)!

    Have a great weekend

      Hi Dawn,
I do also like the fabric used for the bag and it’s design. The last photo of Arrow in the frying pan really made me laugh. There is a famous cats in Japan who likes to sleep in a ceramic hot pot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJltke9Lgik).. Kumo and Wata are too big for a pan or a hotpot… they may be OK in a wok though LOL!
Hope you have a great weekend!

Hello, Kaori, Arrow & Yogi! Kaori’s creations are STUNNING–just beautiful..she has such an eye for detail, colors and great fabric! Oh, I’m falling in love with Arrow and Yogi!! They are sooo sweet… They look so much like our Charlie (only without the white “sock” feet, etc.) Such a fun post…love the photos! Thanks for another great week, Kyoko! Have a terrific weekend, my friend :o ) ((BIG HUGS))

    • kyoko says:

      Hi Tracy,
Oh yes, Charlie does look like Yogi and Arrow. :D Don’t you just love the “sock” cats? It must be the genes to have fur colour distribution in cats to make them look like they have socks!
Have a wonderful weekend to you too ;)
