So, I hope you had a great weekend. I thought I would write to you about how this whole not-going-to-Japan ordeal happened but there is more pressing matter that I would like to write today. A slightly shorter post than usual, nevertheless an important one.
I have decided that C & C will make an early first quarter donation. It was decided on UNICEF Haiti Earthquake Children”s Fund.

When you live in a safe and earthquake-free country like the UK, it is hard to really understand the devastation of Haiti earthquake even when you watch the news… BUT that should not be my excuse. I tried to put myself in the situation and remember how it felt to have a large earthquake when I was child in Japan (and I even had a nightmare about it last week) and I felt very scared. It really is very scary to be in Haiti right now. If I were scared, what about all the children who don’t know where their parents are, what to do, where to get help, who to get help.
So the answer was clear. I decided to make C & C quarterly donation to UNICEF which has been one of my favourite children’s charities.

You are such an inspiration and example to us all, Kyoko!
I’m a lil sad that you didn’t manage to make your trip to Japan this time, but I’m hoping you can re-schedule it very soon!
I’m counting down the days for my own trip to visit Gaurav in India again, I’m leaving on the 16th!

Seems like a very worthy choice
Hi Sarah,
Thank you. I really hope UNICEF will do a good job with all the other NGOs. Apparently NGOs raise so much more money than individual governments for emergency relief like Haiti.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

That’s a really wonderful thing to do. I sometimes can’t even comprehend what the children are going through. A very noble choice Kyoko.
Hi Rain!
Fingers crossed that these children won’t be lost and be helped by good people.
Thanks

Hi Kyoko,
How generous. You are so kind. I guess we take a lot of things for granted here in London such as safe water and shelter. I hope your donations help Haiti.
Hugs.
