Hi Clementine,
Thank you for the comment. Sl1 means "slip 1 stitch" usually knitwise when on the RS and purlwise when on the WS.
Hope this helps.
Happy knitting!

Hi,

This is such a lovely pattern! I am a beginning knitter and I was wondering if "sl1" is the same as slip slip knit? Or, if not, is there another term for it and how do I do it?

Thank you!

Hello Anna,
No problem at all. Glad that it helped ;)
You are absolutely right about the second question. It basically means single ribbing i.e. k1, p1, k1, p1, etc .... and end on k1.
No questions are silly questions and I am so happy that you are working on the scarf.
For any other help, please feel free to contact me again.

Happy knitting!

Hi Kyoko,

Thank you very much for your answer it helped. I started knitting the whole scarf following your description, as before I was only making knot stitches. When I got to the row in question it worked :)) I guess I miscalculated and should of tried doing it instead of thinking too much :)). Thank you again.

Also, I would like to double check something, hope I am not bothering you too much. :-s k1, *p1, k1. Repeat from * until end, does it mean to do the following: k1,p1,k1,p1,k1 and so on (k1,p1) till the end? I know that asterisks indicates a section that should be repeated, but I am not sure which park to repeat, just p1 or p1 and k1. Sorry for such basic questions but I am very new to this :D

Thank you again for all your help :)

Hi Anna,

Thank you very much for your comment!
Here is the answers to your question: There are 45 sts, so first three stitches are worked as sl1, p2 which leaves 42 sts.
The knot stitch (MK) is worked over 3 sts so you would work MK 13 times which leaves 3 sts at the end.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me ;)
Happy knitting!

Hi Kyoko! The scarf looks very nice. I am trying now to make one myself. Despite the luck of experience I am doing pretty well :D but I have one question though. In the row 6 of the MB in the description you say sl1,p2, *MK. Repeat from* until the last 3 sts, p3. If we have 45 sts in total and 6 of them are perled in this row we have 29 sts left, 29 is not divided by three, so when I do this sl1,p2, *MK. Repeat from* I have 4 sts left not 3 :-S. Am I doing something wrong before that or I do not understand description correctly?

Thank you in advance for help.

Hi Kyoko! I love this pattern and I can't wait to try it out for this coming fall! :) But I'm very freshly new to knitting and was wondering if there is a way to make this scarf as an infinity/circle scarf? Thanks so much!

Hi Fatin!
Thank you very much for your comment. The stitches appear different depending on the kind of yarn used. For example, I used Rowan Cashsoft for this scarf which is a very squishy kind of yarn. So when I blocked it, it filled the gap (although if you look closely enough, there are still small holes). If you for example use a single ply yarn, cotton of any other that are relatively less squishy, there tend to be holes between the stitches. I don't think you are making any mistakes at all. If you like, do please e-mail me with the image of the scarf so that I can check it for you ;)
Thank you so much for knitting the pattern.

hi kyoko!

i'm currently having an attempt on this pattern. i'm just wondering, is it normal for the holes to be present while knitting? because i've seen your tutorial on youtube and your sample do have the holes but the finished project look really neat and compact. or maybe the holes will "disappear" after blocking? i'm afraid if i had make a mistake without knowing.

thanks in advance for your response. =)
