Two weeks just passed like the speed of light. I can’t believe it. I have been busy knitting but about 50% of the time I was literally tidying up my office. Thanks to IKEA, my office is going to be tidy soon.
So today I would like to show you how I have tidied up my knitting needles. Hopefully in the coming weeks I will be able to show my office!!

IKEA GRUNDTAL range. These plastic planters had holes at the bottom, so I have cut out the cardboard and put them inside so that needles won't fall through.

IKEA GLIS plastic container for my circular needles.
The following pics are what I found in Flickr. I love the way people store their knitting needles.

How cool are these? I might start collecting olive oil cans from now! LOL.

This is so cute. I am interested in the chunky neeles. They are very unusual looking!

This is very good. When you use circular needles often, the writing on the cord often fades away. This little organiser is so useful.
… and here are some of the unusual ideas for storing / displaying your knitting needles.
How do you keep or display your needles?

Thank you for including my flower frog! I would never have thought of using it for knitting needle storage – how clever
Hi Jennifer!

When I saw it, I thought that is definitely the one to put the knitting needles! I think it will look absolutely fabulous with the vintage needles.
Lovely collections you have in your store.

IKEA has so many great storage ideas! I’m glad to hear you’ve been busy knitting and doing some spring cleaning!
Btw, check my blog tomorrow, there’ll be a small feature about Cotton And Cloud!
Hi Pili!
Will FB it
IKEA website is permanently open in my computer (LOL)! They are great. I wish they sold everything online. In the UK they only sell selected items online. Other stuff you need to go into the store.
OMG, I can’t wait to see your blog tomorrow! Thank you so so much

I love finding new uses for vintage items. Especially for organization. My favorite new use for an old item is an old spinning spice rack I use for my beads..Thanks for including my glass rack!
This is such a fun post!
Hi Bobbie!
Me too, I love a creative use of vintage items. I love your glass rack and it would soooo chic with knitting notions
What a fab idea to use an old spinning spice rack for your beads!

Greeting from Italy dear Kyoko!
Love all these ideas!
I’ve started with crochet lately and I love it, but I have only 3 crochets and I keep them in my penholder.
ps: you can see my first work here http://scrapzone.blogspot.com/2011/05/time-machine-marzo-sassolini-e-filo-di.html
Hello Giuli,
When I last went to Italy, I found a lovely crochet magazine to make wonderful home decoration items. I must go back to Italy again..!
Absolutely love your crochet. So pretty. Thank you very much for the link.
You are now getting me started on a crochet!!

Hi Kyoko!
I love your new knitting needle storage, can’t wait to pop around and see your new office.
Most of my knitting needles are in a really old knitting case which I bought when I was 10 years old. I think it was a shop called Peter and Jane, where I also bought a ball of burgendy yarn and some really skinny metal needles.
Speak to you soon.
Mary
Hi Mary!
Ooo! Sounds so lovely. Skinny metal needles must be so nice. Are you planning on a lace knit?
I must come around to check your knitting notions next time. Mines are finally organised.
Chat to you soon!

I really don’t have many to store. Not like you full-time knitters.
I store mine in two wraps. My latest travel friendly one…and now that I’m using circulars and because I crochet… is here >> http://kelgellcreations.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-wrap.html
It looks like your set up is going to be jealousy-provoking. It’s looking splendid already and I’ve only seen such a tiny bit. Organised spaces…especially craft rooms…are so enticing.
Hi Kelly!
I used to manage with a couple of wraps too but over time my knitting notions and needles collection just grew. Love the travel-friendly wrap.
Hehe
Except for that wall I took a photo of, my office is still an “organised” mess (which is then made worse by my cats trying to “help” me. Can’t wait to have a tidy office!

Gosh I love IKEA’s organizing vessels! Since I have/use almost exclusively circular needles I keep them in a hanging organizer (with sizes labeled) almost just like the one pictured above. Of course I don’t have as many as there are in that picture.
Hi Lauren!
Circular needles are so great aren’t they? I must admit that it took a while for me to fully get used to the circular while I was converting from straight to circular (mainly because the actual needle bit of the circulars are shorter).
The hanging organiser is something that I am going to have to get. Hehe, the one in the pic is incredible isn’t it? I love it!
IKEA stuff are so useful – I am back there this weekend (LOL)!

I use a wine box. It’s the perfect size and holds a LOT of needles. Mine is circular, and has a separate lid and a carrying handle. Although I think the friend who gave it to me as a gift was a little taken aback when I was less impressed with the wine inside than with the box it came in!
Hi Kelly!

Wine box sounds like a perfect idea! There is a wine shop near by from where I live so I might pop over and ask if they have a spare one
Hehe! I too am always happier with the container than the actual item that came in with it!!

Boo hoo, none of the pictures loaded for me but I’m sure they look great
Hey Rain!
Hopefully next time it will load.
Oh no!!! What a shame
How do you keep you needles? I recently found a nice vintage shop selling all sorts of paraphernalia and found a wonderful wooden box perfect for my knit accessories
Hope you had a lovely weekend!

I like your Ikea knitting needle storage, the pots and divided box look as if they were just designed for needle storage. My needles are either in a case or in the cutlery drawer of the sideboard, in which I keep all my crafting items – there is no cutlery in there btw!
Thanks for adding me to the links on your blog
Hi Kerry!
Some of the IKEA storage items are very useful. I bought the same GLIS plastic box again and put stitch markers, cable needles etc. so handy!
I love the idea of having a cutlery drawer for your craft notions (and not cutlery!)
