I am super chuffed to see my design, Miranda Bag, is in The Knitter magazine issue 29 (out now so don’t miss it!).
The first thing I would say is that there are so many wonderful designs in this issue and I am so honoured to be included in one of them.

The Knitter issue 29 2011. The front cover garment called Marco is designed by Rosee Woodland. So pretty!

Miranda Bag Designed by Cotton & Cloud
This is the first design for the magazine and I am very excited about it. The Knitter is an excellent UK knitting magazine for intermediate to advanced level knitters. It is packed full of wonderful designs and articles, and is published every month. They have a very good website and a blog (will open a new window) so definitely check it out!
Miranda Bag is designed to go with the theme of issue 29, which is Tempest. The bag illustrates how the winter sea swirls around, splashing and leaving sea kelp onto the shore.

Miranda Bag: I am going to make it myself for this AW.
Structurally, it is knitted with circular needles in one piece (which means no sewing up involved!). It starts from the bottom panel which is made with garter stitch so as to give thickness and flexibility.

Miranda Bag is knitted in the round starting from the bottom panel.
The outer body is then worked (you would love knitting the chunky cable!), followed by the wavy edging. The interior is worked by picking up stitches below so that the bag starts to enclose itself. The interior is worked in stockinette stitch followed by the matching garter stitch for the bottom panel. When you get to this stage, you will have a bag with the exterior and the interior joined at the top. It is logically constructed and you will love the way the bag “grows” into shape.

The secret of Miranda Bag.
To complete the bag, fix the Vegan Synthetic Leather Bag Handles.

Sew through the bag to secure the i-cord.
In the magazine, there are chunky, fine, lace, cable patterns. There are pretty sock and stash buster patterns and great articles and tutorials. So do please check it out! You can find the magazine in any major UK magazine stores (e.g. WH Smith), or from online stores such as Loop (although issue 29 is not yet on the shop yet). You can also subscribe the magazine from here (it will open a new window).
The yarn used is Jamieson’s of Shetland Heather (will open a new window): 6 x Midnight (1340), 1 x Pine (234) and 1 x Eider Duck (1030) (1 ball = 50g, 92m).
Hope you like it! Happy knitting!

Hope you all had a good weekend. I have a FREE PDF sewing pattern download to share with you
For me, time is money. This means that my lunch is often shoved into a plastic bag last minute before I leave home. It has come to a point that I really needed a nice bag that I can quickly put my lunch in it and grab and go out.
I won’t bore you with too much mechanics of this bag. Though if I were to mention just one thing about this bag is the contrasting wide gusset which allows you to put a fairly large Tupper Ware (which has your yummy lunch in it). I have used Colourful Japanese Fans (natural) fabric (quick because I only have 1 yard left of this
