Book Review 1: Blankets Bears and Bootees – GIVEAWAY!

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Firstly, thank you SO much for such a great comments about my Mini Purse pattern. It’s been so popular that the purse frames quickly sold out. But don’t worry, they are on their way to the House of Cotton and Cloud soon. As soon as they are in, I will announce it on Twitter and my Facebook Page. I will also notify you individually for those who send me a restock notify request.

How are you doing? Hope you are having a productive week. It’s been super windy here in London. I jogged this morning but I was nearly blown away into the Thames River by the wind!

Over the next few weeks, I have decided to hold three knitting book review posts. Of these 3 books, I will be GIVING AWAY 2 of them. You can enter for both giveaways of course ;) So do make sure you keep an eye on the giveaway post!

So, the first book is by talented Debbi Bliss “blankets bears and bootees”. This one is a giveaway so read on…

When it comes to baby knitting patterns, the first designer I think of is Debbie Bliss. My first ever English knitting book was by her. It’s called Farmyard Knits. I think it is out of print but it has so many sweet knitting patterns for babies and children. It’s my all time favourite.

This book contains many simple-yet-interesting patterns.

I always find Debbie’s patterns very clever because they are the sort of designs that knitters of all levels can enjoy.

I think this is a super design.

What is so special about this book is that there are many amazing knitted toy patterns for your baby. There are a big bird cushion and a little bird knitted toy patterns (the little bird is on the left in the photo below) which I think are superb.

Love, love, love!

Love, love, love!

I think this book is a hit. Definitely.

Veil of Isis from BadCat Designs, it is a wonderfully adaptable pattern, I have made a shawl version, a baby blanket version and am seriously considering trying it with a heavier yarn to make a throw.

Congratulations Mary :D
Please e-mail me to draw@cottonandcloud.com to let me know the detail! ;D
Have a great weekend to you all!
