PATTERN ONLY - instant printable download in English using USA terminology. With permission to sell finished products. Please read the entire description to see if this is the right pattern for you.
If you want to make the option with more colour in it, using Mayflower or Rainbow cotton crochet yarn (or equivalent) and 2.5/3mm hook (US 2-4, UK 12-10 size hook) you will need approx. 4 balls of white and 3 balls of the coloured yarn (350 g). One 50 g ball is 186 yards. If unsure of the yarn size, look at the recommended hook size as a guide. However you can vary the design to your requirements with more or less need for colours, but it's a good idea to buy a bit of extra yarn.
The table runners in the photos turned out to be 158 x 46 cm/62 x 18". which is quite large and suits a 8-12 seater table.
List of stitches used in this pattern (US terminology):
CH: chain
SL ST/SS: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
DC: double crochet
TR: treble crochet
Shell Stitch using a number of TRs and CHs.
For UK/Australian users:
SC = DC, DC = TR, TR = DTR
While the individual components of the pattern are not difficult, assembling them requires you to pay attention to what you are doing. If you are good with numbers, you will probably enjoy creating this exceptionally interesting and beautiful table runner.
You can use any yarn with the right size hook, but cotton is recommended. If you use colours, make sure they can be washed together.
Actual finished table runner is also available at the time of listing this pattern: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1057501946/crochet-lace-table-runner?ref=shop_home_active_1
If you want it smaller or bigger, you can use yarn with different thickness. In fact, it's a great pattern to use up leftover yarn.
The pattern comes with step by step instructions on 5 pages and 10 photos, but no step by step photos are included due to the size of the file. I wrote the pattern after people approached me with photos circulating on the internet with a similar table runner that they could not find a written English pattern for. It can be adapted to use different doilies and medallions with a wide range of colour options.
