This is a PDF WRITTEN PATTERN for the Butterfly Wing Shawl from our design profile, Hey Sister Designs.

Typically called a "dragon wing" shawl, this type of construction starts out like an asymmetric shawl, but the stair-stepping manner of the outer edge gives it an elongated, sloping side that is just perfect for these gorgeous butterflies. This pattern is Intermediate because of how we work down the side of the rows to create the butterflies.

Though I love the Red Heart It’s a Wrap Sprinkles yarn with this pattern, you can use up to a worsted weight yarn and corresponding hook size. To achieve the same size shawl I made in the photos, follow the materials list below.

You will need:
- 1 cake of Red Heart It's A Wrap Sprinkles or Rainbow (I used the color Plum Pudding), or about 675 yards of #1 fine weight yarn. (Scheepjes Whirl, Yarn Art Flowers, Cotton King Sultan, etc)
- 3.25mm hook
