This is a crochet cat scarf pattern inspired by Sandra Miller Maxfield's Cat Afghan 1997.
Skill level: confident beginner/Intermediate
The stitch is basic HDC (US) but you need to be familiar with colour changes. This pattern is written for making the scarf in two colours.
What you'll need to know:
You'll need to have knowledge of some basic crochet techniques and stitches, including making a chain, HDC (US) colour changes and weaving in ends. The pattern includes links to useful youtube vidoes.
This pattern is written in ENGLISH for a two-colour scarf with written instructions and charts provided for two colours. You can make the scarf in more colours by substituting for another yarn colour at the beginning of a new cat head
What you'll need:
For a two-colour scarf (Navy and white), I used style craft chunky yarn, approximately 200g of each colour to produce a 190 x 16cm scarf, using a 5.5mm hook. Please note dimensions of the finished scarf and the amount of yarn required will vary depending on the yarn you use, your tension and the desired scarf length.
You can also use Aran yarn (scarf width approx. 14 cm)
For a smaller Toddler or young child scarf, you could use DK yarn to produce a narrower, lighter scarf.
• Scissors
• Darning/tapestry needle
• Recommended hook size for your yarn)
