ALSO SUITABLE for making afghans, bags, etc. Choose your own colours, the way the squares are joined and the size of your project.

Using Mayflower cotton crochet yarn (or equivalent) and 2.5/3.5 mm hook, one square motif was approximately 12 x 12 cm (4.5 x 4.5”)
For table runners similar as in the photos, you will need approx. 2 balls of white and 1-2 of the coloured yarn (150-200 g in total). One 50 g ball is approx. 170 m.

List of stitches used in this pattern (US terminology):
CH: chain
SL ST: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
HDC: half double crochet
DC: double crochet
TR: treble crochet
TR4TOG: cluster of 3 TRs finished together

For UK/Australian users:
SC = DC, DC = TR, TR= DTR

You can use any yarn with the right size hook, but cotton is recommended. If you use colours, make sure they can be washed together.

If you want it smaller or bigger, you can use yarn with different thickness. In fact, it's a great pattern to use up leftover yarn.
