PATTERN INFO
The Winona Polo Heavyweight Edition is a worsted weight version of the original Winona Polo. It is worked top down, first flat, then in the round. First, the back is worked flat with short rows to shape the shoulders. The back is then placed on hold and stitches for the front are picked up along the cast on edge. The front shoulders are knit until the length of the placket has been reached and then joined together. The front and back pieces are then joined in the round to create the body. After knitting to your desired length, the body is then finished in a split, folded hem. The sleeves are then picked up in the round and worked with decreases for a tapered fit. The cuffs, placket, and collar are then worked in double knitting for a thick, sturdy edge. This pattern provides instructions for two stripe patterns, the first with four stripe colors of varying widths and the second in a rugby-styled pattern.
The Winona Polo Heavyweight Edition is an intermediate level knitting pattern.
SIZING
The Winona Polo Heavyweight Edition is designed to have approximately 30-40% positive ease, meaning the circumference of the polo is 30-40% larger than your bust. If you are between sizes, I suggest sizing down as the pullover is already oversized.

YARN
(1325, 1350, 1400) [1500, 1650, 1800] (1900, 2050, 2250, 2450) yards [(1210, 1235, 1280) [1370, 1510, 1645] (1740, 1875, 2060, 2240) meters] of worsted weight yarn.
For the stripe design with varying widths, you’ll need the following proportion of colors:
Black: 22.5%
Gray: 33%
Beige: 14.5%
Reddish Brown: 30%
For the rugby-style stripes, you’ll need this proportion of colors:
Cream: 75%
Green: 5%
Blue: 20%
To determine the amount of yarn you need for each color, multiply the percentage of each color by the amount of yarn required for the size you select.
